Terrorist Explosion Kills 6 People, Injures 23 in Sayyeda Zainab, Damascus

A terrorist explosion claimed the lives of 5 people and inflicted severe injuries on 21 others near the shrine holding the grave of Sayyada Zainab, in the town named after the granddaughter of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.

Local sources reported an explosion at around 7 pm of an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) planted in a motorbike parked next to a taxi car in the market of Ku’ Sudan, among the casualties were women and children.

The casualties were rushed to hospitals in Damascus, and policemen and criminal investigators cordoned the area to investigate the crime scene.

Fingerprints of the criminals behind this attack point to NATO forces, throughout the past 12.5 years of the US-led war of terrorism against the Syrian people, the Sayyeda Zainab town and especially the shrine of the granddaughter of Prophet Muhammad PBUH were the targets of attacks by Al Qaeda, ISIS, and Israel.

There’s not a single military target anywhere near the targeted area, there’s not a security or even police station in the targeted area, and the location is a popular market, especially on the eve of Ashura, a holy day for the Muslims on the 10th of the month of Muharram in the Hijri calendar.

The Muslim holy day is observed by mainstream Muslims fasting in commemorating the day God saved Moses and his people from Pharaoh of Egypt in the prominent biblical story of Moses splitting the water for his people to cross it and then it closed on Pharoa and his soldiers drowning them.

Ashura is also commemorated by Muslims marking the day of the killing of Hussein Bin Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, and the brother of Sayyeda Zainab, whose buried in this shrine, in the infamous battle of Karbala in southern Iraq.

Shia Muslims march in hundreds of thousands toward the graves of the grandchildren of Prophet Muhammad PBUH in southern Iraq and in Syria. Syria officially commemorates the day as a holy day along with several other Muslim countries some of which consider Ashura an official public holiday.

The escalation of the war of terror and the war of attrition by the Biden ‘inclusive’ junta in Syria is seen by a number of prominent political analysts as a distraction from the miserable failure of the proxy war NATO, the ‘defensive’ alliance is waging against Russia in Ukraine, the collapsing economies of the collective West, and the failure of achieving any breakthrough in Syria despite the 12.5 years of all sorts of war crimes waged by the neo-Crusaders against the people of the Levant.
