Four Children Severely Injured by Landmine Explosion in Deir Ezzor

Explosive devices landmines and projectiles in Syria

A landmine explosion caused severe injuries to four children in the city of Deir Ezzor, in northern Syria, the children were rushed to the hospital to save their lives.

The landmine was planted in a deserted residential building in the Al Jubaileh neighborhood of Deir Ezzor, the center of Deir Ezzor province.

Dr. Mamoun Heezah, Director of the Assad Hospital in the city told the Syrian news agency SANA that the four children they received are of 8 – 10 years old, their injuries are severe, one of the children got his both legs amputated, another is suffering from brain injury, and the other two are injured with shrapnel in the abdomen and various parts of their small bodies.

Syria faces an enormous problem with the excessive use of landmines and improvised explosive devices IEDs by the US-sponsored Al-Qaeda affiliated terrorists who planted these killing and maiming tools in large numbers in every area they infested all over the country to continuing killing and maiming innocent Syrians returning to their homes and farmlands long after the ‘freedom fighters’ are defeated and expelled from the country.

Despite signing a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations body for helping in removing the landmines UNMAS back in July 2018, Syria is still waiting for the agency to provide the help it should especially that the three NATO permanent members of the United Nations Security Council are the main sponsors of the terrorist groups tasked to destroy Syria.

The Syrian Arab Army’s engineering corps are barely finding time to destroy tons of weapons and munition left behind by the terrorists and demining the liberated areas, the help Syria receives from its allies and friendly countries is not enough as long as the US and European taxpayers continue to prioritize financing Al Qaeda ‘freedom fighters’ in Syria over the welfare, healthcare, and well being of their own children.
