Once again a report about this town at the Syrian-Lebanese border. Here is a fresh report by the persons of, in which the ominous Israeli military vehicle is shown from the near and also from the inside.

So it is probably no Sufa-1 as expected a few days ago (respectively taken from Israeli internet circles), but just… ..a Jeep, built in 1995. So, not really old.

As an accompaniment:

The official Damascus has meanwhile given its consent to participate in the international conference on Syria. The announcement was made by the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation (RF) today.

In contrast, the “opposition”, at least the “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC), has not announced anything analog until now. What is also easy to explain: the only claim on which the opposition is able to agree on, would be the removal of Bashar al-Assad.

The latter had only recently again informed the West, in a probably almost mocking manner, that he has no intends to give up his office in 2014, while the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has given some quite unambiguous indicators about the most likely scenario, that al-Assad could stay the President by 2020, according to the mood in the country.

Under such circumstances, the “opposition” is simply not really able to agree on a participation at such a conference, because with such an agreement, the only consensus would disappear – and it is the only consensus on which they were able to unite on since the beginning.

Thereby, the inability of the opposition to, at least, show a minimum of constructiveness, comes not really inconveniently for Damascus on the basis of the facts: so, the now clearly recognizable strategic initiative can be fully used and the possible negotiating position of the rebels can be further restricted.

The battles in Al-Qusayr also give the government once more the opportunity to state that it does not fight against political opponents, but against criminal gangs, which have entrenched themselves in this area – a statement, which would not be against the facts.

If al-Golani is actually still in Al-Qusayr and will be apprehended “dead or alive”, then there would soon be something to show for the Syrians.
