Maaloula: Syrian Army Eliminates About 350 Al-Qaeda Fighters

Syria / Maaloula (Ma’loula)

Syrian units kill about 350 al-Nusra terrorists near the Christian village of Maaloula.

While a new defence study from Britain shows that about 100,000 foreign-backed armed terrorists are fighting in Syria against the secular government of President al-Assad and the Syrian people, especially against the religious minorities on Syrian soil, the units of the Syrian Arab Army in and around the historic Christian village of Maaloula (Ma’loula / Arabic: معلولا‎) were able to eliminate at least around 350 armed Al-Qaeda-linked fighters of the so-called al-Nusra Front (Jabhat al-Nusra).

The new British defence study says that about 100,000 foreign-supported terrorists and mercenaries are fighting on Syrian soil against the secular nation and against the Syrian people in order to establish a so-called Islamist state. Not to mention that one is already able to say that these armed thugs and al-Qaeda-affiliated fighters and jihadists are also fighting in Syria for the agenda of the regime in Tel-Aviv and the backers in Washington, Turkey, Europe and Saudi Arabia.

According to the new British defence study, the armed terrorists in Syria are fragmented into about 1,000 groups and the armed infighting is increasing between the different terrorist groups and their different aims in Syria. However, these are mainly power fights between the different armed terrorist groups on Syrian soil and it is clear that the Syrian Al-Qaeda offshoots such as the violent Jabhat al-Nusra (al-Nusra Front) is battling against the US-backed “Free Syrian Army” (FSA). The Syrian Al-Qaeda branch is already more powerful than the criminals and thugs of the “Free Syrian Army” (FSA) and thus, it is to expect that many weapons, sent to Syria by e.g. the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) will land in the hands of the Al-Qaeda terrorists and not in the hands of the FSA fighters.

Excerpts of the new British study, conducted by the defence consultancy IHS Jane’s, were published on Monday in the known “The Daily Telegraph”. However, the defence consultancy IHS Jane’s 360 relies often on the questionable information of the so-called one-man show, the “Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in Syria”, although the  defence consultancy IHS Jane’s 360 should already know that this “Observatory” isn`t credible at all. The same applies for many other sides and activists – of all involved sides in the Syrian conflict.

The defence consultancy IHS Jane’s 360 estimates, according to its new study on the Syrian conflict and the number of involved foreign-backed terrorists fighting on Syrian soil, that some 10,000 armed terrorists are currently still fighting for terrorist groups affiliated with Al-Qaeda in Syria. For example, the dangerous Al-Nusra Front (Jabhat al-Nusra), which has been even supported by the U.S. administration in Washington till some months ago. Till the Obama administration has realized that the support of armed Al-Qaeda-linked Islamists in order to topple the government and President al-Assad in Syria wasn`t a good plan and became even counterproductive. The so-called “Salvador Option” for Syria has failed.

The al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front and its affiliated armed groups in Syria became too powerful, while the slightly more secular criminals and thugs of the so-called “Free Syrian Army” (FSA) was minimized by the al-Nusra Front and the units of the Syrian Army. Meanwhile, the units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) have the upper hand on the many battlefields in Syria.

The analysis of the situation in the Syrian conflict in regards of all the foreign-backed terrorist groups on Syrian soil by the IHS Jane’s from Britain also shows that a large number of extremists and Islamists from foreign countries, even from Europe, Australia and the United States, are also active in Syria and fight alongside the armed jihadist groups and the other terrorist brigades against the secular government of President al-Assad in Damascus. Not to mention all the conducted massacres by these extremist groups against the Syrian population and religious minorities such as, for example, in the historic Christian village of Maaloula.

In the ancient mountain village of Maaloula (Ma’loula / Arabic: معلولا‎), located in the north of the Syrian capital Damascus, about 55-60 kilometres away from the capital, the operative units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) have continued the military operations against the Al-Qaeda-linked jihadists of the al-Nusra Front (Jabhat al-Nusra) in the last days.

The Syrian Army units were able to force back some groups of the Al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front from the Christian village of Maaloula (Ma’loula‎) in the recent days. The majority of the residents in Maaloula are either Christians or Muslims. The ancient village in the north of the countryside of Damascus is a famous area in Syria and many tourists have visited the mountain village of Maaloula before the beginning of the foreign-backed terrorism in the Arab country.

For example, the Monastery of Equal-to-the-Apostles St. Thekla (disciple of Apostle Paul) is located in the Christian village and it is one of the last villages where the residents are able to speak Western Aramaic. The other two areas in Syria where the residents are also able to speak Aramaic are the villages near to Ma’loula, Bakh’a and Jubb Adin.  The historic village in Syria is also a part of the UNESCO list of all the world heritage sites, is also the home of two of the oldest surviving monasteries in Syria: the monasteries of Mar Sarkis and Mar Takla. The historic village in Syria is also a part of the UNESCO list of all the world heritage sites, is also the home of two of the oldest surviving monasteries in Syria: the monasteries of Mar Sarkis and Mar Takla.

On last Saturday, the units of the Syrian Army were able to take the village of Maaloula (Ma’loula / Arabic: معلولا‎) under its control. However, the Al-Qaeda-linked terrorists and Islamists of the al-Nusra Front (Jabhat al-Nusra) and some affiliated armed groups continued to shell the troops of the Syrian Army from a gorge. On Sunday, about 100 armed terrorists tried to penetrate into a neighbouring village of Maaloula, but the units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) were able to repel this attempt by the terrorist groups. Many of these armed terrorists were killed by the Syrian units in their attempt to penetrate into a neighbouring village of Maaloula (Ma’loula).

According to the information by a correspondent of the Itar-Tass agency, a group of al-Nusra terrorists were able to knock out a tank of the Syrian Army in the area of Maaloula. One of the crew members in the tank was killed, two other Syrian soldiers were taken to the hospital, located on the way from Damascus to Maaloula, and are sadly in critical condition. The Syrian army helicopters are now periodically carrying out air strikes against the armed jihadist forces in the area of the Christian village of Maaloula and the recent statements by U.S. Senator Rand Paul about Syria’s President al-Assad and the protection of the Christians in Syria has come true again.

A higher-ranking officer from the Syrian Army told the correspondent of the Itar-Tass agency that the units of the Syrian Army have killed about 350 armed terrorists on Sunday. However, there are also heavy losses among the Syrian Army units, too. Many ambulances were rushing for the sites of the battles between the army units and the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist forces in and around the historic Christian village of Maaloula (Ma’loula / Arabic: معلولا‎) and after the last two years, it is already known how one has to rate such stated numbers by all involved sides.
