Israel Bombs Damascus International Airport (DAM) Main Runway at Dawn

Israel bombed Syria’s main commercial airport, Damascus International Airport, in the early hours of dawn today Friday 10 June 2022, this is a war crime by all standards as it targets a civilian airport in operation.

This latest Israeli aggression comes merely 4 days after their similar attack on Monday late at night targeting posts in southern Damascus, including the airport itself.

A Syrian military spokesperson said in a statement carried by the Syrian news agency Sana:

“At 4.20 am today, the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression with bursts of missiles from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some points south of the city of Damascus, and our air defense media confronted the aggression’s missiles and shot down most of them.”

The military source concluded: ‘The aggression resulted in the injury of a civilian and some material losses.’

An unofficial source revealed that Syria’s Civil Aviation suspended the flights from and to Damascus International Airport as the Israeli aggression deliberately targeted the airport’s main runway, the airport’s administration announced ‘the suspension of incoming and outgoing flights as a result of some technical equipment being suspended from service.’

Flights from and to Damascus International Airport are diverted to Aleppo International Airport free of charge, news from the country’s Civil Aviation has been reported.

This is not the first time Israel targets Syria’s main airport, or even the Damascus International Fair which is adjacent to the airport, targeting civilian infrastructure, especially operational infrastructure serving civilians is a war crime without question.

Israel can carry out its war crimes unbothered by the International Law due to the protection its US-led NATO sponsors provide it and recently, the protection it receives from the Gulf States that have been in an alliance with the anti-Jewish Zionist entity known in the west as Israel.

Israel also enjoys a ‘coordination agreement with Russia’ to operate in Syria’s air space, something the Syrian people are still puzzled at years after this ‘coordination’ came into effect and Israel started bombing Syrian sites when Russia keeps holding back air defense systems that Syria has bought from its presumed ‘ally in combating terrorism’, the emerging superpower that Syria has literally saved from economic strangulation in 2007 when the Syrian leadership rejected a western offer conveyed by the Qataris to extend a gas pipeline from Qatar through Syria and into Europe and putting down hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue to help Russia.

We will not hear condemnations by the United Nations Security Council for this Israeli war crime against Syria, or from the European Union, the only thing they’re focused on is regurgitating the so-called ‘Syria chemical file‘ and how to ensure cross-border access to keep the supplies flowing into areas under the control of Al Qaeda in northern Syria.

This latest Israeli aggression, like some of the previous ones, comes hours after the chief of the Lebanese Resistance Hezb Allah, Sayyed Hasan Nasr Allah, threatened Israel to stop stealing Lebanese gas and remove a ship it brought to this purpose to the site of a gas field off the Lebanese coast.

Let’s imagine what would happen if the Syrian Army added Israeli commercial airports to its legitimate bank of targets: The UN would immediately hold a Security Council emergency meeting to condemn such military action, and the US would probably bomb Syria before the meeting took place.

We’re headed toward an inevitable confrontation by Israel and its NATO backers, pushing hard to start to open new fronts to further destroy the world’s economy and to help save their decades-long investments in Ukraine which is getting dismantled before their eyes day by day. Maybe striking back in kind can stop a bully who lives as a parasite on the account of the ‘collective west’ and the protection of the fading western empire(s).
