Iran Blames West for Supplying Terrorists in Syria with CW Agents

Syria - Douma, Damascus countryside

Syrian Army cleaned the Shebaa farms from armed terrorists.

The Sheeba farms in the countryside of the Syrian capital, Damascus, are secured again. Units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) have eliminated the most armed terrorists in the area of the Sheeba farms (Shabaa) in Damascus countryside (Rif Dimashq) and regained the control above the area of these farms.

While Iran has raised some concern that the terrorist groups in Syria have the possibility to use chemical weapons due to the support by certain Western states, the units of the Syrian Army in the countryside of Syria’s capital have gained more ground in some areas of the countryside. The Shebaa farms (Shabaa) at the crossroad between different areas of al-Ghouta meet have a strategic importance and the removal of the armed terrorist groups in the area of the Sheeba farm is a success for the Syrian Army.

A source of the Syrian military said that the army units have purged the Shebaa farms (Shabaa) in the Damascus countryside of the armed terrorist groups by the adoption of new tactics. The military source added that the Syrian Army units regained the full control of this region and were also able to destroy the arms depot of the terrorists.

According to the military source, 200 armed terrorists have been killed during the clashes against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the military operations by the army units in the area of the Shebaa farms (Shabaa). However, under consideration of the usual habits, let´s say that 100 armed terrorists were killed in the recent military operations by the Syrian soldiers in the region of these farms in the countryside of Damascus.

The military source further explained the strategic importance of the area of these farms and said that the Shebaa farms “cover a vast geographical area and it stretches to the outskirts of Southern Ghouta (al-Ghouta) district of Damascus.” The source of the Syrian military also added that the region of the farms are therefore important in a strategic sense because the farms are located at the crossroad where different areas of the Syrian district of al-Ghouta meet. The strategic importance of the Sheeba farms is therefore quite understandable.

And in terms of the Iranian criticism against certain Western states, this criticism is also very understandable. After the Syrian Foreign Ministry in Damascus and also several Russian Ministers have criticized certain Western governments for specific machinations in terms of the Syrian conflict and the arms supply into the hands of terrorist groups fighting in Syria against the secular government of President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus, also the Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, has voiced some criticism and concerns.

The Iranian lawmaker, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, said in his new statements that Tehran has deep concerns about the possession of chemical weapons agents by the foreign-backed terrorist groups on Syrian soil. Alaeddin Boroujerdi has then blamed Western governments for supplying the terrorists in Syria with such chemical weapons and substances for the production of such weapons.

The known Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission added that according to the information in the hands of Tehran, it is certain that the “Syrian opposition forces” (e.g. the so-called Free Syrian Army / FSA) have used chemical weapons and that there are certain countries in the West that have “supplied equipment and transferred technology for manufacturing such weapons.”

After his criticism against Western governments and the concern about chemical weapons in the hands of terrorists in Syria, Boroujerdi has underlined the importance for the establishment of a committee in order to identify the real perpetrators behind the chemical weapons attacks on Syrian soil. The senior Iranian lawmaker added that the supervision on banning the use of such chemical weapons should “also apply to the opposition forces because the perpetrators of the chemical attacks of six month ago were surely the opposition forces…”

The spokeswoman of the Iranian Foreign Ministers in Tehran, Marziyeh Afkham, has in principle said the same as the senior Iranian legislator, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, at a weekly press conference by the Foreign Ministry in the Iranian capital on Tuesday.

Marziyeh Afkham said yesterday in regards of the Syrian conflict and the published UN report about the investigation into the use of chemical weapons near Damascus that the administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran is very concerned about the possession of CW agents by the terrorist groups on Syrian soil and that it is a real danger that these Takfiri and terrorist groups possess such chemical weapons.

The spokeswoman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that “the dangers of the possession of such weapons by the Takfiri and terrorist groups is still a more serious concern which should be paid attention and obviated.”
