Four Syrian were killed in two separate explosions of landmine explosions near two villages in the countryside of Hama, central Syria on Thursday 14 July.

Local sources said that a landmine blew up in a vehicle carrying three civilians near the village of Hwaiz in the Al Ghab Plains in the northwestern countryside of Hama, and the three civilians were killed on the spot; the sources added that the bodies of the victims were taken to the National Hospital of Suqailbiya.

In another incident on the same day, a civilian was killed on his farmland in the village of Bayud in the Al-Hamra district of Salamiya northern countryside in the eastern countryside of Hama.

The two landmine explosion incidents were confirmed by a spokesperson in the Hama Police Command adding that the landmines were planted by the Al Qaeda-affiliated terrorists when they infested the region and called on the residents to be cautious and report any suspicious objects they encounter in their farmlands, inside their houses and buildings, or in public facilities.

Syria continues to bleed its people from tens of thousands of landmines and IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) planted by the US-sponsored terrorists ‘Moderate Rebels’ without proper help from UNMAS, the United Nations Mine Action Service despite signing a memorandum of understanding with the agency in 2018.

Some friendly countries have helped and continue to help the Syrian authorities in removing the landmines in areas cleaned from the US proxy terrorists, it remains an overwhelming task that the least the USA, its EU cronies, their Turkish, Saudi, and Qatari stooges can do is provide the maps of the landmines and other explosions their ‘moderate rebels’ planted.

US and EU draconian inhumane blockade and their illegal unilateral coercive measures dubbed sanctions hinder Syria’s abilities to acquire the much-needed assistance in demining the country, or at least to identify the areas with explosives planted in it, let alone providing proper medical and other sorts of assistance to the victims of these killing tools.
