Destroy, Rebuild, Profit: Do the culprits create a dreamland, and should we really believe the heartwarming stories of wise leaders and bold entrepreneurs who aim no less than to develop Syria for the benefit of its people?

Today, I came across an article that addresses one of my primary areas of interest: Syria. I decided to share it with you. The article is published on an Austrian blog and can be found here.
Here comes the translation:

Investments are being made in Syria
August 7, 2025, by Thomas Oysmüller,
Islamist Syria is becoming a playground for foreign investment. On Wednesday, agreements worth $14 billion were signed for the renewal of Damascus.
Foreign capital is flowing into Syria, while the country’s minorities are forced to hide from the new regime. On Wednesday, Syria signed agreements for 12 major strategic projects in the areas of infrastructure, transportation, and real estate, with a total value of $14 billion. This shows once again that the Sunni Islamist regime, which emerged from Al-Qaeda and ISIS, has come to stay.
Money does not only come from financially strong regions such as Qatar or Saudi Arabia. An Italian company has also landed a major project with the Syrian regime.
The Qatari company UCC Holding is investing $4 billion in Damascus Airport. The national investment company of the United Arab Emirates is taking on a $2 billion project to build a subway in the Syrian capital. The Qatari (de facto state media) Al-Jazeera reports euphorically on the developments for “the new government of ‘President’ Ahmed al-Sharaa, as it struggles with the serious consequences of sectarian violence that broke out on July 13 in the southern province of Suwayda between Bedouins and Druze fighters.” Druze, who were considered a non-Islamic sect, were persecuted and slaughtered.
The regime signed a $2 billion deal with the Italian company UBAKO for the Damascus Towers project. The company is highly unusual, with only two employees, and was founded in 2022. Now it is said to have landed a billion-dollar deal. A citizen journalist dug deeper:
“The Facebook link on the company’s website leads to the personal profile of a man named Bassem Al-Saba’, whose biography reads: I own a first-class construction company in Damascus specializing in construction, mechanics, and electricity, as well as companies in the US and Lebanon.”
The projects “will span the whole of Syria and represent a qualitative change in infrastructure and economic life,” the “investment minister” said on Wednesday, adding that the agreements were “a turning point” for Syria’s future. Al-Sharaa and US Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack were both present at the signing ceremony, the official Syrian news agency SANA reported on Wednesday.
Barrack congratulated the Syrian authorities on “another great success” and said they would witness the rise of a “new center” for “trade and prosperity.” The UN estimates the cost of rebuilding Syria after the war at more than $400 billion. So there is still a lot of capital to flow into Syria.
End of translation.
Rightfully, the author points out the dubious circumstances of the projects. It is well known that certain individuals, obviously just by coincidence mainly belonging to that tiny rootless clique that can conduct its business anywhere, throughout history have repeatedly filled their pockets by first instigating wars, reaping the first batch of their profits from the bloodshed (through loans, ROI and arms deliveries), only to profit a second time from the reconstruction of the countries they destroyed.
People could easily get the impression that, now that the intransigent Bashar Al Assad has finally been ousted, decisive statesmen and bold entrepreneurs are traveling to Damascus to help the country get back on its feet after a ruinous 14-year war. Al Qaeda HTS’s grab of Euro 5.8 bln from the Brussels buffet also had been framed by fine words about noble goals and gracious humanity. The official news portal of the Al Qaeda HTS regime, SANA, trumpets every little trade deal and every bland declaration of intent by Western or Arab investors in Syria as a sign of hope for a successful new Syria.
This would mean forgetting the real culprits behind the terrorist war against Syria. It would also mean forgetting the people pulling the strings (behind the dancing puppets that naive people call “presidents” or “prime ministers” or “chancellors”) and their own interests. This would mean falling for the lies, getting lost in the fog of propaganda warfare. We allow this to the still blind majority who believe the lies spread by the plutocrats-owned media and who don’t care what goes on outside their own homes (until it affects them personally).
The past three decades have proven two things:
- When they want to overthrow a government, the servants of the conspiracy, all in high positions and dressed in fine suits, always come up with the same accusations and falsifications, start a bloody war of destruction and plunder, and illegally enrich themselves and their masters with the treasures of a foreign country that fell into their hands as a result of their instigated coup.
Problem-Reaction-Solution – the Hegelian tiptoe of political leadership is all over the place. - The majority of the population in Western countries deliberately ignores what is going on in the world, what is being done by their selected leaders with their very own tax money. Their tax money taken from them to be spent on war and death and plunder abroad rather than schools, hospitals, and roads at home? They could not care less. Instead, they eagerly consume stories about “evil dictators” who, as has been repeatedly exposed as a lie, spontaneously kill their own people and must therefore be eliminated by the West, in the name of humanity, which in turn, oh wonder!, can only be done by the West, completely independent of any potentially annoying obstacles such as international law or the rights of sovereign nations to decide on their own.
If you would like to disagree with me now, perhaps out of a sense of wounded pride, please think for a moment about Serbia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Syria, and Iran. The older ones among us may hear bells ringing at names like Vietnam (plus Cambodia and Laos), Panama, Nicaragua, and Chile. But that in itself is not important. What is important is to recognize that the deceivers and the deceived have successfully merged into a firm symbiosis that has since been unshaken by any report of the truth. And please don’t come to me with the “awaken” fairy tale, because then you would have to show me the country in the West (or East) where the awakened masses have dragged the responsible politicians out of office and handed them over to proper justice.
And this, I admit, is my problem with articles such as the one translated here.
Does the author have no knowledge of the interests of those who were destroying Syria? It is a well-known fact that the countries that are now supposedly seeking to transform Syria into a paradise (for whom?) are precisely those that brought the war of terror to Syria and threw this independent and highly civilised nation into the hands of Western-controlled, misanthropic mass murderers. Arabi Souri and Miri Wood of Syria News, Thierry Meyssan of Réseau Voltaire, Eva K. Bartlett, and others have spared no efforts, taken many hardships, and done tremendous jobs to inform about the events on the ground and the background of the war of terror on Syria. Has anyone noticed that the efforts of all those have achieved any substantial results? The masses are still (deliberately) ignorant and eagerly following the official lie. Iran, just as one example (the next with Venezuela is already about to be cooked), did prove this bitter fact just once more.
And if this example is not enough for you, think of Gaza. Certainly, and this cannot be praised enough, millions of people are taking to the streets in protest against the Zionist genocide of the Palestinian people, so loudly that the regimes are unable to silence them, which is why they have to attack them with smear campaigns as well as terrorize them with the corrupted judiciary.
The current heartwarming efforts of politicians who have made the genocide possible in the first place, to produce the illusion that they would care for the people of Gaza, is due to the fact that these politicians can not completely ignore the unrelenting and entirely justified struggle of millions for the simple human right to live and therefore have to respond to it for appearances’ sake.
The only true response to the genocide is being done not by the superpowers or the Zionist owned poodles in the West, but by a poor country, exhausted by a bloody war that was imposed on it by the very same culprits who destroyed Syria and are complicit with the Zionists in occupied Palestine. Do you know the name of that country, that, as the only one in the world, is acting in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations? The name of that country is Yemen.
„So there is still a lot of capital to flow into Syria“, the author writes at the end of his article.
Investments in Syria, which should be stated just for the reason of having it in the archives, are being done not for the Syrians, but for the investors. These very over-priced and inflated investors, mainly, are the same who destroyed Syria (for profits, for geopolitical interests, for the sake of the Greater Israel project and helped the psychopaths of HTS to gain power in the first place. If you do not recognize this, you have never acknowledged the existence of corruption, nepotism, and money laundering by mobsters.
And this is what most of these investors really are.
