Moscow calls on Security Council to condemn terrorist acts in Syria.
After the spokesperson of the Russian mission to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Maria Khodynskaya, said in a recent interview with Russia Today (RT) that the recent terrorist acts on Syrian soil were possible due to the foreign support for the terrorist groups in the Arab nation, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed the necessity that the UN Security Council (UNSC) finally also condemns the terrorist acts in Syria.
The last interview with Maria Khodynskaya, the spokesperson of the Russian mission to the United Nations (UN), was conducted by Russia Today (RT) shortly after the massacre against over 120 Syrians in Khan al-Assal, near the strategically important Syrian city of Aleppo (Halab). The massacre against this huge amount of Syrian civilians, including some army personnel, has been carried out by foreign-sponsored terrorist groups.
Russia, Iran, an some other governments have already condemned this massacre against so many Syrians in Khan al-Assal, while the UN Security Council (UNSC) has confirmed its blind eyes in terms of the criminal acts of the foreign-backed terrorist and jihadist groups on Syrian soil.
The member states of the UN Security Council (UNSC) just see the alleged crimes of the secular Syrian government and the Syrian Arab army (SAA) in Syria. In addition, if something happens, they blame the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad directly for the violence or crimes. It would be an interesting situation to see them doing the same behaviour in their own countries.
The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov (Sergej Lavrov) has underlined the necessity that the UN Security Council (UNSC) condemns the criminal acts of the terrorist groups in Syria in a new statement to the press. Sergei Lavrov said that the UN Security Council must condemn the terrorist acts taking place in Syria and step away from any double-standards.
Sergei Lavrov said that the UN Security Council must condemn the terrorist acts taking place in Syria and leave their double-standards. The Russian Foreign Minister further said that the condemnation of the terrorist acts taking place on Syrian soil is also important in terms to really unify the efforts and stances in combating the terrorism in Syria and everywhere else. A combat of terrorism with double-standards is just implausibly and won`t help much in future to eliminate the global threats of terrorism.
Russia Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made these remarks at a joint press conference with the Foreign Minister from Ghana. He further said that Moscow is currently waiting for an answer of the so-called “Syrian opposition” whether they will participate in the upcoming international peace conference on Syria (Geneva II) or not.
In addition, Sergei Lavrov further confirmed that Russia will continue to demand from the “Syrian opposition”, mainly from the so-called umbrella organisation, based in Turkey, to sit at the negotiating table because that (talks) is the only possible method to solve the crisis.
By the way, contrary to Western mass media reports about the recent speech of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to strike terrorism within Syria by an “iron fist”, which is needed under consideration of all the terrorist acts in recent months, the President of Syria has also underlined in his speech from Sunday that the government in Damascus is simultaneously trying to solve the Syrian crisis, some call it Syrian war, by political means.
And thus, the media coverage by several Western agency of the recent speech and “iron first” of Bashar al-Assad were false – wilfully false, in order to present him as the bad and evil boy, who sits in Damascus, while many die within the borders of Syria. The Western media agencies have missed important quotes of the speech by al-Assad and that happened wilfully, of course.
Already before the joint press conference with Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Russia’s Foreign Minister has announced that talks between Moscow and the United Nations (UN) will take place tomorrow (Thursday) in order to speak about the planned international peace conference on Syria in Geneva (Geneva II). For these talks, Russia’s Foreign Minister Lavrov will meet with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon tomorrow.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has meanwhile published a clarifying statement about the meeting between the Russian and the United Nations representatives. The statement says that the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, and the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu will take part in the talks with the United Nations (UN) in the framework of their trip to New York, USA, where they will also meet with their American counterparts. In addition, the Russian statement by the Foreign Ministry said that the sides will discuss “some most urgent international issues” with Ki-moon.
The statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry also pointed out that the negotiations in terms of the Syrian conflict will be focused on the prospects of a settling of the situation and the upcoming Geneva II conference in order to find a political and diplomatic solution to the conflict and crisis in Syria.
“Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called on the UN Security Council to “unambiguously” censure the mass killing of Syrian Kurds by foreign-backed radical militants fighting the Damascus government.”
