A child was killed and his five siblings were injured by an explosion of an explosive device in the northern countryside of Daraa, in southern Syria, Tuesday 23rd of August.

Child Muhammad B. Ajaj, 11 years old, was pronounced dead and his sisters Ghufran and Sarah and brothers Ali, Ahmad, and Osama were rushed to the Izraa Hospital and later transferred to the National Hospital of Daraa for treatment of their wounds, one of the wounded children was later sent to Damascus for further treatment, the injuries of the children ranged between moderate to serious, Dr. Yehya Kiwan, Director of the National Hospital in Daraa said in a statement.

The children aged 1.5 to 15 years old, hail from Deir Ezzor province, and live with their family on a land farm owned by Tahseen M. Hariri in the plains of the town of Naamer in the northern countryside of Daraa where the father Bassam Ajaj works.

US-sponsored ‘moderate terrorists’ have planted tens of thousands of landmines and IEDs (improvised explosive devices) in all the areas they infested throughout the US-led war of terror and war of attrition waged on Syria for the past 11.5 years.

The demining of the liberated areas is overwhelming the Syrian state which receives little help from friendly countries, namely Russia and Armenia, and no help at all from the United Nations especially its UNMAS, (United Nations Mine Action Service) body supposedly tasked to help demine lands around within the international organization.

The ‘creativity’ of the terrorists in forming the IEDs into different shapes including household items, toys, and even books adds further difficulties to the efforts of the Syrian authorities to properly demine the areas cleaned from the US-sponsored terrorists and are bleeding Syria of its civilians with the main casualties among the children and farmers in rural areas.
