While the European Union (EU) allegedly wants to have visa-free travel with Russia and this as soon as possible, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today, that Russia hopes the Syrian government in Damascus and the United Nations (UN) will agree on international inspections about the possible use of chemical weapons in the civil war in Syria.
Of course, the visa-free travel between the European Union (EU) and Russia won`t happen in a near future because there is still a long way to go and it is very questionable whether all member states of the European Union are really interested in a visa-free travel agreement between the EU and Russia. At least, there are some doubts.
But there will be further talks on this topic and the head of the EU Delegation to Russia Fernando Valenzuela said today that the European Union wishes to have visa-free travel with Russia and this as soon as possible, but Fernando Valenzuela also knows that there is still a long way to go and that there are truly problems on this way.
As stated, Russia meanwhile hopes that the Syrian government / authorities and the United Nations (UN) will agree on an international investigation about the possible use of chemical weapons on Syrian soil – especially the alleged use of chemical weapons in the region of the Syrian city of Aleppo.
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said further in terms of the Russian hopes for Syria, that as far as Moscow knows, the Syrian government is probably ready to consider requests for inspections in other regions of Syria after the area near the Syrian city of Aleppo is inspected. The statement by the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov was published after he has met with the biased UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
Lavrov closed his statements with the words that Russia hopes that agreements will be reached between the Syrian government in Damascus and the UN Secretariat, while it is clear since weeks that the “honest” UN tried to misuse the request by Syria and to extend this request into more missions on Syrian soil, which would have been very different to what has been requested by the Syrian authorities. In addition, this behaviour of the United Nations reminded some people of their “helpful behaviour” to let some states bomb Libya.
Of course, also the biased Ban Ki-moon had something to say after his meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister and, thus, there is the statement by Ki-moon that the UN urges Syria to allow experts into the country in order to investigate the possible use of chemical weapons. The usual blabla while the facts are a bit different in reality. Ban Ki-Moon also confirmed that there is not yet a timeframe for another “international” conference on the topic “Syria”.
According to some news reports, a so-called leading official from the United Nations (UN) has said at the last weekend in a statement to a Swiss-Italian TV channel that the UN commission, which is still investigating alleged human rights abuses in the conflict in Syria, has already heard testimony that the “Syrian rebels” (the terrorists and foreign-backed thugs in Syria) have used chemical weapons. All this, while the NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said at the beginning of this week, that NATO has no information about which side has used chemical weapons in Syria.
In terms of the visa-free travel agreement between Russia and the European Union (EU), it is clear that some problems are necessary to be settled – for example, the protection of the southern borders of Russia and issue of the wonderful biometric passports to the citizen.
The way to the visa-free travel has already been divided into four important blocks. According to the statements, the works on three blocks are finished, while there are still some problems which remain to be solved.
