Omran al-Zoubi: Syria is committing itself to Russia’s proposal about chemical weapons.
After successful military operations by the units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the countryside of the capital Damascus, several operative Army units were able to regain the control of the known major highway from the capital of Syria to its International Airport.
The important highway had been closed for hours due to intense battles by the units of the Syrian Army against foreign-backed terrorist groups in the area of the major highway to the International Airport of Damascus.
According to the reports from the battles at this known highway from Damascus to the Airport, the major highway was closed for about four hours after units of the Syrian Army have launched a new wave of targeted military operations in the area of the highway. The reports say that the major military operations took place in the region of Sheba’a in the countryside of Damascus and near the important highway.
Further information about the battles between the units of the Syrian military and the foreign-backed terrorist forces in the countryside of Damascus say that the highway was afterwards opened again. In advance, the units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) were able to eliminate many armed terrorists in the area. However, several military operations by the operative troops of the Syrian Army are still underway in other regions of the countryside of Syria’s capital, Damascus (“Rif Dimashq”).
A large number of Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists were killed in the south of the countryside of Damascus after several targeted military operations by the units of the Syrian army today. Some concentration points of the foreign-backed terrorists were attacked by units of the Syrian military and these mop-up operations have led to the death of many terrorists and al-Qaeda-linked jihadists. However, clashes between units of the Syrian Army and foreign-backed terrorist forces also took place in the Syrian town of Duma today. Duma is also located in the countryside of Damascus. According to the information by a correspondent of FarsNews, the units of the Syrian Army were able to eliminate tens of terrorists in the targeted military operations against gathering centres of the foreign-supported terrorists in Duma (sometimes Douma) with the help of artillery fire.
In the meantime, the Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi gave a new interview for the British ITN TV channel today. Syria’s Information Minister al-Zoubi said in this new interview with the British TV channel ITN that Damascus is “committing itself to whatever comes from the UN (United Nations).”
The Syrian Minister added that the government of his country has accepted Russia’s proposal to get rid of its chemical weapons and he pointed out that the governance of President al-Assad has in fact started to “prepare their list” for the United Nations (UN) and the relevant organizations in order to join the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and to get rid of its chemical weapons on Syrian soil.
Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi also confirmed that Damascus is already “documenting” their papers and that the Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad has started “to do its job” in terms of the Russian proposal and the four-stage plan to get rid of Syria’s chemical weapons arsenals.
Ali Haidar, the Syrian Minister for the National Reconciliation in the Arab country, has already said previously to the Russian news agency Ria Novosti in terms of the Russian proposal about the Syrian chemical weapons and the US war threats against Damascus that “on the one hand, they will help Syrians get out of the crisis, and on the other hand, they averted a war against Syria by removing the pretext for those who wanted to unleash one.” Ali Haidar further described the plan as a “victory” for Syria and its President al-Assad due to the prevention of a possible US-led war against Syria.
