Russia: Ending Arms Embargo on Syria a Failure

The serious failure of the European Union (EU) to extend the arms embargo on Syria could led to dangerous results. Not only to the arming of religious fanatics, radical strangers and terrorists within Syria by an European government, but also the use of such European arms after the end of the conflict in Syria against the security and stability of European countries, because one thing is certain – they want European arms, but these Islamists do not like Europe, do they?

In addition, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said today about this failure of the European Union (EU) on Monday to extend the known arms embargo on this country in the Middle East may directly harm the planned international conference on the Topic Syria in Geneva (Geneva 2 / Geneva II) and that is probably very true.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said the following about the big failure of the European Union (EU) and the double standards of some European governments, for example, in France and Britain:

“This is a reflection of double standards and a direct blow to the international conference on Syria proposed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry on May 7.” (Sergei Ryabkov)

As already stated in a previous news about Syria and the confirmation by the EU Foreign Policy chief Catherine Ashton and her hypocritical statements on Monday, every member state of the European Union has now finally the right to make its own decision to send weapons and ammunition to the terrorists and jihadists fighting in Syria against a secular government and a secular state.

This means that countries of the European Union (EU) are now able to violate international law without any fears of a following punishment. One of these double standards the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov probably was talking about in his recent statements to some journalists.

Of course, while the weapons that could be sent to Syria would only be “intended for the protection of civilians”, according to the biased EU Foreign Policy chief Catherine Ashton, the short history of the last two years should already tell everybody that these armed radicals, strangers and Islamists also use their weapons against innocent civilians within Syria.

There were already many massacres in Syria and if a member state of the European Union will send weapons to terrorists fighting in Syria, these arms could be used in such massacres or terrorist attacks against civilians in the Arab nation and not only in the battles against the Syrian Arab Army, which just protects the secular and sovereign Syrian state.

Alexander Grushko, the NATO envoy of Russia, also gave a statement about the failure of the European Union (EU) to not extend the arms embargo on Syria. Russia’s NATO envoy Alexander Grushko said that he hoped that the Western countries would refrain from the delivery of weapons to Syria and that the most important message today is that there is really no other option than a peaceful political dialogue for the actual given situation within Syria.
