A Modern History Revealed by Prominent Turkish Journalist Husni Mahalli about Mubarak of Egypt
As we know Anwar Sadat, the former Egyptian president, betrayed Syria in the 1973 war against Israel and ceased fire unilaterally leaving the Syrian Arab Army fighting Israel (US, France, UK and all of NATO with them) alone on the Golan Heights front.
His successor in Egypt Husni Mubarak was not less a traitor and a double face hypocrite, he went to Turkey to ask the Turks in 1998 to attack Damascus and went to Damascus and told late Hafez Assad he was with them against Turkey.
Husni Mahalli, prominent Turkish writer and journalist exposes this crime for the first time to pan Arab al-Mayadeen News Channel in July 2012, the revelation didn’t get the proper attention it deserves and needs to be broadcast again now to warn from double-faced leaders who are mainly allies of the West:
* The interview transcript:
For the first time, I want to talk about a historical scene I personally attended in regards with 1998 (Turkish – Syrian Crisis). I never wrote about this before and I will talk about it now in this program.
In 1998 when Turkish – Syrian relations were tense and when the Turks threatened to launch a war against Syria, in regards with the PKK and its leader Abdullah Öcalan, President Husni Mubarak came to mediate between the two parties.
I was present in most of the meetings between Mubarak and president (Süleyman) Demirel, the distance between me and presidents Mubarak and Demirel was about 1 meter or 1.5 meters, Mubarak can deny what I will mention now through his lawyer (if he can). He (Mubarak) was telling the Turks, and was telling Süleyman Demirel, what I had heard:
‘Attack Syria and the Arab world will be comfortable and happy for that’;
On the other hand, Mubarak when he went to Damascus and met president Hafez Assad, that time, he told him (Mubarak told late Hafez Assad):
‘We are with you against Turkey and I have said so to the Turkish officials.’..!
That’s in regards to the 1998 (crisis).
– Are you saying that Husni Mubarak was instigating Turkey to attack Damascus, and at the same time telling Hafez Assad he was with Damascus?
– Yes, this is a historical fact and I was a witness to it and I didn’t hear it from someone else, in 1998.
* End of interview.
The 1998 crisis was defused when late Hafez Assad informed the Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan who was taking asylum in Syria about the situation and asked for his response, the latter chose to seek refuge in another country to avoid a destructive regional war. He was kidnapped en route to his destination by the Israeli Mossad, best friends of the Turks in all types of crimes, and handed over to Turkey where he remains in prison until today.
No words can describe treason or hypocrisy, nothing can justify them. The West, however, has a twisted justification for this betrayal of principles, they call it: pragmatism. Sell your country, your people, your friends, your allies, those who trusted you, for some shortsighted gains and it’s not an issue, in their eyes. This is one of the main reasons why Western ‘standards’ do not apply on people in the East, especially in the Levant, the cradle of all civilizations.
