Letter to Syria

Hello, dear friend.
Thank you for your message. I am always delighted to read from you, as this tells me you are alive. Really! What kind of world is this that I have to think and write that!
Just like my late Syrian friend, F.O., the Lady from Aleppo, had told me: Security is an illusion.
You wrote:
“Life in Syria is like a person fighting against a strong storm and saying to himself, ‘Oh, thank God it’s not a hurricane.'”
That is a neat picture, but it also makes one feel sad about the bleak reality it describes.
Really, dear friend, I do not know what to say. Your people, after a 14-year-long struggle, after all that they had to endure, have fallen into the hands of the filth of the universe. Imagine a child born in 2011 in Syria — what has this child, now grown into a 15-year-old teenager, experienced in its life? Fate has been brutal to you, and I feel sick and heartbroken about that.
God truly gave your people an enormous task to handle. And I feel sick thinking about what this means to ordinary people. Of course, there has to be a struggle to liberate Syria from this plague — that cannot be debated. But who am I to tell you this? Your people had already struggled enough when December 2024 came. Your people had already suffered enough hardship when that killer Al-Julani entered Damascus and usurped the presidency. What a grotesque fraud, what a stinking farce that is. Maybe this is the reason why Trump, hosting his thug Al-Julani at the White House, sprayed him with perfume: to cover the smell of blood? I do not know. But just the image of him doing so tells us what kind of flipped world we are living in — a demonic, vile, brutal clown show, run by bloodthirsty, greedy psychopaths. You cannot imagine my feelings towards these creatures — and I do not only mean Al-Julani, but especially the “German” politicians and media figures who helped to make him.
I do not know what else to say to you, Syrians, other than: try to survive. This situation will not endure. No evil lasts forever. The mob running Damascus now is commanded by alien forces, and this cannot be a situation sustained indefinitely. There will be resistance — I assume there already has been resistance since December 2024 — and we can only support these forces as best as possible. You know that I can only operate with the word; I am no soldier and in no condition to fight. But I can help a little to make reality known to people who are usually kept in utter ignorance. As far as I can, I will go on supporting the cause of Syria — and you know that I mean the Syria of the Syrian people, not the Jihadi Disneyland that they plaster all over the media.
If you have read my articles in which I depict the situation of my nation, Germany, you know how much I despise the alien construct of repression that the victors of World War II have imposed on us and that has been ruling here ever since. Well, somehow I fear it is possible that Syria could go a similar way — with, after three generations, the majority being compliant with the regime out of ignorance and opportunism. But for that to happen, the current regime in Syria lacks all the necessary means. A compliant population means the majority profits from the situation enough that the negative effects of the regime are seen as bearable. How could such a stabilizing situation ever arise when the country is ruled by psychopaths, foreign mafias, and opportunists? Given the current state of affairs, such a possibility seems unlikely. Of course, Al-Julani can use sheer terror to weather crises for a while and hold on to power; of course, Tel Aviv’s aggression will prop up the system by redirecting hatred and energy toward an alleged external enemy — but to do that, Al-Julani would have to take action against Israel, and that would mean angering his masters. At present, he is employing the tried-and-true method of consolidating power: sowing hatred and discord within the country. There are enough internal enemies — Alawites, patriots — to keep his obviously intellectually limited followers occupied and away from Damascus.
You wrote:
“Nothing in our lives is improving… Everything in Syria is getting worse, from the security situation to the living conditions to the rampaging thugs of Al-Julani’s followers. And even if we’re still alive, that’s not because his followers are decent people, but because he is carrying out a plan to exterminate us quietly and in the long term… The international community, represented by America, is really impressed with his performance, and for him, that’s all that matters.”
At present, the mainstream media here are reporting virtually nothing from Syria. I suspect this is part of the plan devised by the regime and its foreign backers in Tel Aviv, Ankara, Brussels, and Washington: they do not want an audience to witness what this plague is doing to you. The veil of silence that the Western media has cast over Syria is the curtain behind which blood is being shed — just as “Syriangirl Partisan” said: “The resistance was betrayed. From Gaza, to Lebanon, to Syria.” (source)
In German, we say: “Lass das Gras darüber wachsen” — let the grass grow over a matter — meaning: people will forget it if we stop talking about it. And the opportunistic masses, raised to be passive, are only too happy to forget that billions of their tax money have been spent to unleash the most bloodthirsty monsters upon a people who did no harm to Americans or Europeans. Nor have the masses grasped that the billions invested in sinister mass murders and coups in West Asia — just as they are now being invested in the bloody war in Ukraine — are precisely what is lacking for schools and hospitals back home. And so, public services are being radically eroded, hard-won social rights are being whittled away, and the privatization and commercialization of formerly public services are filling the pockets of private foreign corporations, while the people — those who finance the whole operation — are being impoverished and stripped of their rights. One could cynically call this poetic justice, couldn’t one? After all, for over 30 years, these people did not deem it necessary to stand up to their murderous government.
So while I must acknowledge the decline and impoverishment of my own nation under its current foreign-aligned colonial administration, Syria finds itself in a situation where things apparently cannot get much worse — which, on the other hand, could have a decisive influence on the momentum for change.
You stated: “As long as a person is breathing, they have to face life with all the strength they can muster to resist it.” I agree insofar as we should devote all our strength to overcoming life’s challenges.
In this respect — and I hope you will forgive me for this — I am depressed by the current situation of your people, but I am not pessimistic about their prospects for the future. Because, you know, I agree with SyrianGirlPartisan, who also wrote:
“The Axis may be over, but the resistance will remain. The genocidal terror state of Israel is Syria’s eternal enemy and will always pose an existential threat. The fight for Syria’s soul is not over, nor is the fight against the greater Zionist scourge worldwide. Thank you to those who stood with us. We will never forget your sacrifice. I hope you won’t forget about us as the struggle goes into its next phase. Tahiya Suria — Long Live Syria!”
With all my heart, I wish a bright future for you and for all upright Syrians. You truly deserve it.
This letter was written to a Syrian friend. For reasons I regard as obvious, any content giving hints to her identity has been omitted. Yes, we are living under such conditions.
