Belgian MP: Belgium Provides Money and Arms to Hardline Opposition in Syria

Feb 13, 2013

BRUSSELS, (SANA)- Belgian MP, Laurent Louis, criticized his country’s foreign policy of double standards and interference in the internal affairs of countries and its support of terrorist sides in certain countries while fighting them in others.

Speaking at the Belgian Parliament, Louis lashed at Belgium for having given itself, under the name of democracy and combating terrorism, the right to violate the sovereignty of independent countries and overthrow legitimate regimes through military intervention.

“This is what is currently happening in Syria,” Louis said, stressing that his country is shamelessly providing funds and arms to the “hardline opposition” which is seeking to topple the Syrian state.

He added that the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs offers an aid worth Euro 9 million to the opposition in Syria while trying to convince people in the world that this money will be used as humanitarian aid.
