The World Health Organization presented the Syrian Arab Red Crescent with ten fully loaded ambulances on 7 April, World Health Day, in Damascus. The World Health Organization’s gift was “to support its efforts and strengthen the humanitarian and medical services it provides.”
Khaled Haboubati, the head of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), received the World Health Organization representative, Dr. Akjmal Magtymova, who “hailed the long history of cooperation between the Red Crescent and the WHO, which is concerned with saving lives and providing health to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable groups in light of the current global health crisis.”
In October 2020, the Syrian Health Ministry received five mobile clinics and three ambulances from World Health Organization. The presentation of important medical equipment showed close cooperation with the official and real health authorities, in helping to “revive the Syrian Healthcare System after years of the US-led war of terror and attrition against the Syrian people.”
In May 2021, the World Health Organization presented the Syrian Health Ministry with forty full-loaded ambulances:
“The ambulances are modern and fully equipped and are part of the Health Ministry’s efforts to find ways to restore and further improve the health sector in the country circumventing the US and EU blockade against the country. The Syrian healthcare system was one of the most advanced in the region prior to the US-led war of terror and war of attrition started over 10 years ago and continuing relentlessly through this day as if the United States of America has nothing else to do other than destroying the last secular country in the region and far beyond.”
The WHO and Syria’s health officials including the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, will continue their history of cooperation.
