Syrian Pharmaceutical Industries Rising Again Amidst Terror, Sanctions, and Pandemic

Syrian Pharmaceutical Industries During War Times

The Syrian pharmaceutical are one of the main sectors in the country that faced the wrath of the War of Terror waged against the Syrian people by the super powers and super rich using terror, direct bombing, sanctions, and everything in their arsenal of evil tools, short of nuclear bombing, but not sure whether mini-nukes were not included.

The following video report by Mohammad Al Khader for the Lebanese news channel Al Mayadeen sheds some light:

The video is also available on BitChute.

Transcript of the English translation of the report:

The number of pharmaceutical factories operating in Syria has jumped to more than 85 in a move to restore that industry a distinguished presence it had achieved before the war. Syrian medicine has now secured 70% of the local need despite Western sanctions and the land, air, and sea blockade for ten years.

Syrian pharmaceutical facilities are shaking off the dust of war, an industry that imposed its presence during the past decade within the productive sectors in Syria, provided the bulk of the local market’s needs, and moved to export to reach dozens of countries.

Noha Al-Hakim – Member of the General Authority of the Pharmacists Syndicate in Syria: After many factories went out of service, more than 70 factories have returned to the pharmaceutical industry with very good specifications and are subject to the requirements of the Syrian Ministry of Health.

Specific pharmaceutical items that are still not in the local manufacture, and other difficulties that manufacturers put in the context of transporting raw materials and remittances.

Ayman Joudia – Marketing Director at a private pharmaceutical corporation: The most important thing we suffer from is shipping. Shipping costs have become more expensive in addition to taking longer. The process of money remittances from the central bank to abroad is the biggest problem that we suffer from.

Difficulties imposed by the Western blockade that the country is facing, and governmental and trade union encouraging attempts that collide with the high exchange rates and its effect on raising the price of medicine on the local market.

Safwan al-Qurabi – Member of the Syrian People’s Assembly (Parliament): The drug file is marred with some influence and the new rich, it is a scientific, financial, and economic commercial file. This mixture needs wise hands, taking into account the interest of a tired citizen who needs effective and safe medicine at an acceptable reasonable price.

Home-made medicines have secured an important part of the Syrians’ need, despite big jumps in their prices and in light of the Corona pandemic, which pressured the health sector with all its components.

Medicine is like bread in the priority of confronting the siege imposed on Syrians, a conviction that those interested in an advanced industry realize, that increases the immunity and well-being of society, and constitutes an important source of income for the national economy.

Muhammad Al-Khader – Damascus, Al-Mayadeen

End of the report.

Hypocrite western officials claim their sanctions against the Syrian people are to help the Syrian people gain freedoms and enhance their well-being, and also they allege that humanitarian, healthcare, food, and medicine are exempted from their regimes of sanctions, their targeting of the Syrian Central Bank and the blocking trade with other countries prove otherwise.

Donald Trump stealing Syrian oil, burning Syrian wheat fields when it’s due to harvest, allowing the Turkish madman Erdogan, even encouraging him, to cut off water from Syrians living in northern regions of the country by building dams on the Euphrates and its tributaries, stealing Syrian factories into Turkey, and protecting Israel and its numerous bombing of Syrian infrastructure, are all war crimes under all definitions, yet, he and his officials fool their people in talking about their love for the Syrians.
