Venezuela, Brazil, Russia, Iran and Ki-moon Strongly Condemn Terrorist Attack on Aleppo University

CAPITALS, (SANA) -Venezuela on Thursday strongly condemned the terrorist attack against Aleppo University, which claimed the lives of dozens of students and injured others, as a “barbarian terrorist act”.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Elias Jaua, expressed, on behalf of the Venezuelan government and people, condemnation of this criminal act, offering condolences to the families of the victims.

Jaua pointed out to the strong relations of friendship between Syria and Venezuela, asserting his country’s full support to the political program to solve the crisis in Syria in a way that maintains Syria’s sovereignty far from any foreign intervention.

Brazil Calls For Punishing Those Responsible for Terrorist Attack against Aleppo University

The Brazilian government strongly denounced the terrorist attack against Aleppo University.

In a statement issued by the Brazilian Foreign Ministry expressed sympathy with people affected by this outrageous act, stressing the need for holding those responsible for this terrorist attack accountable.

The statement added that the violence threatens the future of the country, urging the UN Secretary General, the UN Security Council and the international community to intensify their diplomatic efforts to halt violence in Syria through a solution that is based on Geneva statement issued by the Work Group on Syria on June 30th, 2012.

Russia: Terrorist Attack Is Blatant Bloody Provocation

Earlier on Wednesday, Russia condemned the heinous terrorist attack committed against the students of Aleppo universityon Tuesday.

In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that “We strongly condemn the mass killing of innocent citizens in Syria, stressing that the international community should take a similar uncompromising stance towards terrorism.

Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Press of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that these acts cannot be justified, adding that “We particularly note that this terrorist attack took place in an atmosphere in which normal life had begun to gradually return to the majority of the city’s districts.”

She added that what happened is a blatant bloody provocation in revenge of significant losses the terrorist groups have sustained in the confrontations with the Syrian Army.

The Russian Foreign Ministry reiterated calls for influential foreign players to do their part to halt violence in Syria immediately and transfer from confrontations to the political solution on the basis of Geneva statements which was agreed upon on June 30th, 2012, in addition to providing humanitarian aid to the Syrians.

Iran: Terrorist Attack Will Further Strengthen Syrian People

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Ramin Mehmanparast, strongly condemned the terrorist attack against Aleppo University which claimed the lives of a number of students and citizens and injuring others.

In a statement on Wednesday, Mehmanparast said that these terrorist attacks will not lead except to strengthening the Syrian people’s determination in preserving the principles of resistance.

He renewed his country’s stances on finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria, calling the international scientific and academic organizations to condemn these terrorist acts.

Mehmanparast offered condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured quick recovery, asserting that these acts are inhuman.

UN Secretary-General Denounces Terrorist Attack as a War Crime

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon denounced the attack which targeted Aleppo University, saying that such attacks are unacceptable and must stop immediately, stressing that targeting civilians deliberately constitute war crimes.

Ki-moon called for conducting an in-depth investigation into this attack quickly, stressing the need for seeking a peaceful and political resolution for the crisis in Syria.

A terrorist group on Tuesday fired two rocket shells from al-Lairamoun area on Aleppo University, causing casualties and material damage.

The rocket shells caused the death and the injury of a number of students on the first day of exams. There were also causalities among displaced people whose areas were affected by the terrorist acts and who are staying at the University dormitory.
