While the average salary of a worker in a public sector company is about 25,000 Syrian Lira (about € 268) – if someone has long been employed there. One starts as a rookie probably at 9-12 one thousand Syrian Lira (about 100-130 €). The U.S. dollar was yesterday at 1 USD = 120 SYP (Syrian Lira).
Before the war, the prices for the same food were only a half or even a third of what you can read here below (current food prices in Aleppo):
