Six more cases have tested positive to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) raising the total to 204 cases out of which 83 have recovered and 7 died while infected with the virus.
The latest additions were among people who were in touch with previously infected cases in the town of Jdaidet al-Fadl in the southern countryside of Rif Damascus province, south of the capital Damascus, the Syrian Ministry of Health stated. The town is reported by Sana as under the administration of Quneitra Province.
The ministry added that three of the new cases were among the healthcare staff and that all new cases have been placed in quarantine for further treatment and observation. Jdaidet al-Fadl has been placed under quarantine preventive measures after a lady in her seventies died in the town and had tested positive with the virus. Special arrangements made for high school students taking their year-end exam in the nearby town of Jdaidet Artouz.

The Ministry of Health announced recording 15 more positive cases in the capital Damascus and its countryside raising the total number of cases to 219 cases, the number of recovered cases remains at 83 and the number of deaths at 7 cases as of the time of writing this update.
Syria has a relatively low number of cases of COVID-19 due to a number of factors, the first positive case was recorded on 22nd of March and the first death was on the 29th of the same month, earlier this year.
The US and EU unprecedented and inhumane sanctions renewed earlier this month by the EU and topped with the Caesar Act by the regime of embattled Donald Trump add extra burden on the Syrian healthcare system especially after more than nine years of attrition by the US-led War of Terror waged against the Syrian people, although the NATO-controlled countries claim that medical equipment and medicine are exempted from their draconian sanctions, their blockade and ban on Syria’s banking system impede Syria’s ability to acquire the needed equipment and medicine.
