russia warns attack syria nuclear disaster

Damascus, Syria

Moscow: US strike on Syria is able to trigger nuclear disaster.

The Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, has made some new statements following the recent remarks by the Russian President Vladimir Putin in terms of the possible US-led attack against Damascus and the risks and possible results of such a US strike on Syria.

While Putin said that John Kerry, US Secretary of State, has lied to the US congressmen in terms of the “absence of Al-Qaeda in Syria,” the Russian Foreign Minister warned that a military strike on Syria may lead to a nuclear disaster in the region of the Middle East.

According of our knowledge and our information, the warning by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov about a possible nuclear disaster in case the U.S. administration launches its attacks on Damascus is correct and sadly valid.

There is the possibility that an attack by US-led military forces on Syria could be able to trigger a nuclear disaster in Syria, which will then (under certain circumstances) not only affect Syria but also further countries in the region.

The Russian Foreign Ministry explained its warning about a possible nuclear disaster in Syria in case the U.S. administration begins with its military strikes on Syria that there is a possibility that the attacks by the US military on Damascus could also hit one of the small reactors near the Syrian capital, Damascus.

The Foreign Ministry in Moscow has announced the warning about a possible nuclear disaster in Syria over its spokesperson Aleksandr Lukashevich on Wednesday.

The statements by the spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lukashevich, say that in case a warhead would hit one of the Miniature Neutron Source Reactor (MNSR) near the Syrian capital Damascus, deliberate or by chance, that the consequences of such a hit of one of the Miniature Neutron Source Reactor (MNSR) near Damascus could be catastrophic.

The official statements of the Russian Foreign Ministry also calls on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of the United Nations (UN) to soon carry out a risk evaluation of this case in order to be able to estimate the risk for such a case and the possible results if one of the Miniature Neutron Source Reactor (MNSR) near the Syrian capital Damascus would be hit by a warhead when the United States will really launch their war on Syria.

Such MNSRs as the reactors near the capital of Syria are from China. These Miniature Neutron Source Reactor (MNSR) are built by China and represent a compact and small research reactor, based on the template of the Canadian SLOWPOKE reactor design (China has copied it, as usual).

A Miniature Neutron Source Reactor (MNSR) has highly enriched fuel inside. China has supplied Iran, Nigeria, Ghana, Pakistan and Syria with Miniature Neutron Source Reactors (MNSR) and the Chinese government has also sent the enriched uranium to these countries in order to fuel these small reactors. In Syria, they have mainly the MNSR-RELAP5 model. No surprise that the Russian Foreign Minister has urged the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of the United Nations (UN) to act quickly and to carry out such “an analysis of the risks linked to possible American strikes on the MNSR and other facilities in Syria.”

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of the United Nations (UN) has already declared in last week that there was a “small amount of nuclear material” at the Miniature Neutron Source Reactors (MNSR), a type of research reactor usually fuelled by highly enriched uranium.

The spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry in Moscow is further cited in the media reports as emphasizing that the region may be at risk of “contamination by highly enriched uranium and it would no longer be possible to account for nuclear material, its safety and control.”

However, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated that it will not carry out a risk evaluation of the Miniature Neutron Source Reactors (MNSR) in Syria as long as it does not receive a formal request to do so. So they risk a possible nuclear disaster due to their usual arrogance. It remains to be seen whether the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will receive a formal request by Russia (or other states) or not.

Finally, if there is a possible threat of a nuclear disaster in case US warheads hit such reactors near the Syrian capital Damascus, every side should act in order to prevent such a case and at best – everybody has to do everything to prevent the senseless and baseless war on Syria.
