Putin: The world should welcome Syria’s decision on its chemical weapons.

There are again new statements in regards of the proposal about the chemical weapons in Syria by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin after his interesting and good open letter to the American people and for the U.S. administration of Barack Obama in Washington.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his new remarks about the proposal and the reaction by the Syrian government in Damascus and President al-Assad in terms of the chemical weapons stockpiles in the Arab country and the recent decisions by the governance in Syria that the world and the international community has to welcome it.

Of course, the international community has to welcome especially the decision by the Syrian government and President Bashar al-Assad to join the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and to thus get rid of its arsenals of chemical weapons on Syrian soil. The Israeli regime in Tel-Aviv should follow Syria’s example. However, the Western double standards in terms of the occupation power in Tel-Aviv and its chemical weapons and nuclear bombs prevent the disarmament in Israel – because chemical weapons and nuclear weapons in Israel are not as dangerous as in other countries. Well, yes. As mentioned, the known double standards of Western governments.

Russia’s President Putin made his new statements about the decision of the Syrian governance in Damascus to join the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and to get rid of its stockpiles of chemical weapons at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the Kyrgyz capital (Bishkek) today. After the Iranian President has stated that Tehran supports this decision by Syria, it is also no surprise that Moscow supports such a move by the government in the Arab country. Every decision that might prevent a US-led war against Syria is a good decision.

Vladimir Putin further said in his speech at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) that Moscow believes that any side should welcome this decision by the Syrian leadership to join the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). Putin further expressed his hope that this decision by the Syrian government and President al-Assad is a “very serious step” on the way to solve the conflict and crisis in the Arab country.

The Russian President Putin also stated that the recent decisions by the government in Syria would also confirm the serious intentions of Syria to avoid a possible US-led military attack on the country and to join the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). The Syrian government will place its chemical weapons stockpiles under an international supervision of the United Nations (UN) and Damascus has already submitted relevant documents to join the Convention.

Although Washington, Paris and London remain sceptical about the intentions in terms of the chemical weapons by the government in Damascus, it seems that the Syrian governance and President al-Assad are really interested to join the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and to do everything to be in line with Russia’s proposal about the chemical arsenals on Syrian soil.

In his recent speech at the summit, Russia’s President Putin has again reiterated the position of Moscow in terms of a possible military strike against Syria and said that Russia is against any military intervention in the Arab country. Vladimir Putin added that the current diplomatic efforts in terms of the proposal and four-stage plan about the placement of Syria’s chemical weapons under an international control have allowed it to reduce “an immediate threat of a military operation.”

Besides the statements by Vladimir Putin that the international community has to welcome these decisions by Syria about its chemical weapons and to join the Chemical Weapons Convention and the speech by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek, on Friday, also the President of China, Xi Jinping, said that his country welcomes the Russian initiative about Syrias chemical arsenals.

China’s President Xi Jinping said in his new statements that Beijing welcomes the proposal by Moscow and supports the initiative that the Syrian government in Damascus hands over its chemical weapons arsenals under an international control of the United Nations (UN).
