Iran calls on Middle Eastern states to prevent War on Syria

Iran urges states in the Middle East to prevent the imminent war on Syria.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, has again spoken about the conflict in Syria and the increased possibility of a US-led military strike on the Arab country that would trigger dire consequences for the Syrian population and even for the entire region and the Foreign Minister from Tehran said that all regional countries in the Middle East have to try everything possible to prevent the outbreak of a war against Syria.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has not only urged all Middle Eastern countries to increase their efforts to prevent the possible outbreak of the US-led military strike on Syria, but also stated in his new statements that the regional Arab states have also to make efforts to prevent the growth of extremism in the Middle East.

Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iranian Foreign Minister, made these remarks after a meeting with the Parliament Speaker from Iraq, Osama al-Nujaifi, his deputies and several other Iraqi lawmakers on Sunday. Of course, the meeting between the Iranian Foreign Minister and Iraq’s Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi as well as the other Iraqi MPs was focused on the Syrian conflict and the current increased possibility of a US-led military attack on Damascus. Both sides have probably also discussed their possible reactions in case the Obama administration in Washington really launches its war on Syria.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, underlined after the meeting with the Iraqi delegation in Tehran that the conflict and crisis in Syria should be resolved through a political and peaceful process and that any kind of a military action against Syria will not be able to resolve the Syrian conflict, but even increase the problems in the Arab country, while it also will harm the regional security and stability in the Middle East.

Of course, both sides also spoke about the relations between Iran and Iraq besides the topics that are related to Syria. In terms of the Iranian-Iraqi relations, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated that the legislatures of both countries play a key role in the enhancement of the relations between both countries.

Afterwards, Javad Zarif said that the promotion of bilateral parliamentary cooperation is needed and would be a good development for both countries. The Iranian Foreign Minister then underlined that the parliament of Iraq is instrumental in solidifying unity in their country.

Meanwhile, Iraq’s Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi stated in terms of the relations between his country and Iran that Tehran is playing a key role in the region as a powerful and influential country. Of course, also the Iraqi official underlined the need for an increase of the bilateral relations and cooperation between Iraq and Iran.

The Parliament Speaker of Iraq then spoke about the Syrian conflict and the crisis in the Arab country. Osama al-Nujaifi said that Iraq supports the finding of a political solution to the Syrian conflict and also emphasized the need for all warring parties in the Arab country to come to the negotiating table to reach a political settlement based on the will of the Syrians, instead on the will of foreign powers.

Iraq’s Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi said afterwards in regards of the conflict in Syria and the ongoing battles in the Arab country between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the foreign-backed terrorists and Al-Qaeda-linked elements that a withdrawal of any foreign forces from Syria is a must and has to happen.
