Washington and Moscow will discuss Geneva 2-preparations in The Hague

Geneva, Switzerland

Syria Conference: Washington and Moscow will discuss Geneva 2-preparations in The Hague.

The next so-called international conference on Syria will again happen in the beautiful town of Geneva – probably in October this year, while Russia and the United States are responsible for the preparations for the Geneva 2-conference on the Syrian conflict and crisis.

After the last conference on Syria in Geneva, which was finally almost worthless because the participating officials of Western states and other backers of the terrorist forces in Syria have not cared to find a base for a peaceful settlement of the Syrian conflict, in contrast, what they spoke and what the governments of the so-called “Western community of values” have done has been very different. The policy of double-standards by the United Nations (UN) as well as by several Western governments, including Germany, France, and Britain but also the United States, is still maintained by these backers of the terrorist forces on Syrian soil.

However, after the recent successful military operations by the units of the Syrian Arab army (SAA) and the obvious signs that the foreign-backed terrorist groups are no more able to win the war and conflict on Syrian soil in order to overthrow the secular Syrian government and President Bashar al-Assad in the capital Damascus, it seems that at least some of the backers want to abandon their role as terrorist supporters and try to find a way out from the anti-Syrian coalition.

Next week, high-ranking officials from Washington and Moscow will meet in The Hague in order to debate about preparations for the planned international conference on Syria (Geneva 2), which will probably happen in October, 2013. The United States as well as Russia had the idea to carry out another “peace conference” in Geneva on the Syrian conflict in order to really find a peaceful and political solution for the conflict and crisis in the Arab nation.

However, not every side is convinced that the U.S. administration in Washington is really interested to find a political solution for the conflict on Syrian soil, because Washington is among the main backers of the terrorists and jihadists forces in Syria, who are fighting against the secular Syrian government and President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus, while these Islamists and terrorists perpetrate gruesome massacres against Syrian civilians and religious minorities in the Arab nation.

According to a recent statement by the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Gennady Gatilov, the high-ranking Russian and US officials will meet in The Hague (Netherlands) next week in order to discuss the preparations for the Geneva 2 conference on the Syrian conflict and this probably includes a debate about the participation of Iran in the next conference on Syria.

However, a conference on Syria in Geneva without the participation of Iranian officials is neither balanced nor particularly promising. Washington is against the participation of Iran in the Geneva 2-conference on the Syrian crisis and conflict, although Iran is a major player in the Middle East, and thus, important for the attempts to find a political solution to the conflict in Syria.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Gennady Gatilov, also said on Monday in his statements that the aim of this meeting between higher-ranking US and Russian officials is to “bilaterally compare” the positions of Washington and Moscow on the organization of the next conference in Geneva and that the officials from the United States and Russia will debate about an entire range of issues that are related to the preparations of the Geneva 2-conference on the Syrian conflict.

He hopes, so the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gatilov, that both are able to agree on the list of participants (e.g. Iran) at the Syrian conference in Geneva and especially that Washington understands that Iran has to take part in the Geneva 2-conference as a key player of the region. According to the statements of the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Gennady Gatilov, Moscow will not deviate from this stance.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gatilov has not named the Russian officials who will take part in the meeting with higher-ranking officials from Washington next week. Some rumours say that US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman and the criminal Robert Ford will represent Washington in this meeting in The Hague next week. According to a Russian diplomat, Lakhdar Brahimi, the UN-Arab League envoy on the Syrian crisis and conflict, will also participate in the meeting of Washington and Moscow in The Hague (Netherlands).

Does anyone else remember how many years it took for the US and North Vietnam to agree on the shape of the table around which the representatives would sit to – – talk?
